Disturbance Allowance
- Must be applied for no earlier than 45 days before your Assignment Date.
- Applications should be submitted via JPA, or by completing Form F018 for personnel without MODNET access.
Advance of Pay
- The Advance of Pay form must be submitted to your current unit.
- You may request up to four months’ net pay.
- Repayment can be spread over up to 24 months, though you may choose to repay sooner if preferred.
Credit Cards
- Credit card processes vary between providers and provinces.
- Some cards can be issued immediately with no initial deposit required.
- It is recommended you speak with your predecessor to understand which providers worked best locally and how they applied.
Banking
- A Canadian ID card is required before opening a bank account.
- Be mindful of bank charges, as fees differ between institutions.
- BMO waive charges for Military Personnel.
NS & DS Upon Arrival & Departure
- When Service Personnel (SPs) arrive, they may claim NS & DS for a defined period as they settle into their assigned accommodation. All claims should be claimed using the Losing Units UIN, and any questions can be addressed to the current HR administrator.
- Likewise, when departing, SPs are permitted to claim NS & DS for a designated duration during their exit from accommodation. Claims must be submitted to the Losing Unit UIN, and further inquiries should be directed to the Global Admin Office (GAO).
Utilities/Fuel & Light (F&L)
- If you are Married Accompanied, you will automatically be charged F&L via your SOE as a personal contribution, which allows you to claim back all gas and electricity charges. Water utilities can also be claimed separately, as they do not fall under F&L.
- If you are Single/Unaccompanied, you may claim back all gas, electricity, and water in accordance with JSP 464.
- These charges are reconciled every financial year.
